Several years ago, we took a family vacation to France and Italy. My daughter and I had been taking art history courses and my son was taking Latin so the itinerary revolved around art and Roman ruins. Luckily my husband loved it all. When we were in Paris we saw a lot of Monet’s work then we went to his home in Giverny http://giverny.org/gardens/fcm/visitgb.htm. The garden was like a specimen garden which surprised me. Everything is planted in neat rows, the colors were primarily white, purple, and red. What struck me most was the size of the blossoms! They are huge! I photographed flowers and lily ponds like everyone else but I think my favorites are the behind the scenes shots. This scene of old row boats reminds me of the Wind in the Willows.
The wheelbarrow was tucked out of the way but the bright yellow caught my eye. Some day I’ll paint the lily ponds.
