Mary Englebreit is one of my favorite illustrators. I am particularly fond of her use of quotations in her work and this is one of my favorite quotes. I went through a stage where I just knew that I would be happy if I moved somewhere else. Moving was not an option so this quote became my mantra. I firmly believe that we are responsible for our own happiness and by nurturing ourselves we can bloom where we are. I just had to figure out what type of blossom I was.
My yard is predominately garden. These 2 plants don’t grow in my garden though, they come up every year in my driveway! The daffodils, more often than not, come up before the last snowfall of the winter. Their persistence is inspiring – if it weren’t for Mary Englebreit’s art, I would probably have pulled them up long ago.
